Hey, there! Periodic reminder that I’m Clay Adams, writer of BLAZING BLADE OF FRANKENSTEIN and DREAMQUEST, co-writer of PRODIGAL SON and CARMILLA UNBOUND, and co-editor of the NIGHTMARE THEATER horror anthology. You probably signed up for this newsletter on one of those Kickstarters… or maybe we met at a signing or con? In any event, glad you’re here. Pull up a seat, grab a beverage of your choice, and feast your eyes on the latest news…
Time for the big C2E2 wrap-up post, but three bits of news first…
1. BLAZING BLADE OF FRANKENSTEIN 4 is closing in on 250 backers!
As I was driving to Chicago, Kickstarter notified me that we were selected as a Project We Love, which was a nice way to start the trip.
Many of you have joined us already, but there’s plenty of room for more!
Issue 4 is:
30 pages of sword & sorcery
the conclusion to our first arc
loosely inspired by Bram Stoker's Jewel of the Seven Stars and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Ring of Thoth, the basis for Universal's 1932 film, The Mummy
And, if I do say so myself, the best script I’ve written for the series. And did I mention Mick Beyers and inker/colorist Julio Rojas have done a fantastic job with the interiors?
We’ve decided to leave the Returning Backer Link active for a little while longer, so if you want to still jump in at a discount, look for the "Secret Reward" at the top of the rewards section:
2. PRODIGAL SON - ISSUE 2 is IN STORES NOW!
In this issue, The Kid begins to realize that life on the wrong side of the law is a gritty, blood-soaked path far from the glory he imagined, and the Man in Black forges an unexpected alliance!
3. Nominate NIGHTMARE THEATER 3-D for a Ringo Award!
Ringo Award Nominations recently opened up, and you're all eligible to vote.
Wouldn't it be swell if NIGHTMARE THEATER 3D was nominated? Then you could say you backed a Ringo-nominated book before it was cool (or, uh, nominated).
Please take a minute to write in NIGHTMARE THEATER 3D for Best Anthology, and consider naming one of our fantastic cover artists (Steve Bryant, Conor Hughes, Mexifunk, Ginger Seehafer, Emanuele Taglietti) for Best Cover Artist.
We’re also eligible for Best Production Design & Favorite Publisher (Bloodline Comics).
The book came out great, and we think all our hard-working contributors deserve this recognition, so:

OK. Phew. That was a lot of news.
It’s a big week.
But last week was pretty big too, so it’s time for the big…
C2E2 Wrap Up!
Uh…
Look.
I know I had a great time.
I know I saw a ton of Frequent Friers and Fellow Creators.
And I’m enormously grateful to all who stopped by the booth.
But Saturday’s dinner companions Mark Pracht and Chris Brimmage said the rest of us—Ted Sikora, Mick Beyers, and I—had to try some Malort.
Last thing I remember is the sheer glee on the waitstaff’s faces as they concocted this… hideous potion and served it to us.
Quite frankly, the rest of the weekend is a haze.
And I can’t get this awful taste out of my mouth.
Ted, Mick…any idea what we just drank?
See you next year, Chicago?
